In-person (Waterloo), virtual, in-home (KW and surrounding areas)

Caring for children and youths, one note at a time

Personalized Music Therapy Services

With over 25 years of experience working with children and youths, I offer individualized, therapeutic music sessions in-person in Waterloo, Ontario, virtually, or in the comfort of your home across the Kitchener-Waterloo region and surrounding communities.

Specialized Support for Children and Youth

I specialize in working with:

  • Toddlers and children with developmental, physical, or cognitive disabilities

  • Pre-teens and teenagers navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or emotional challenges

  • Children and youth under palliative care, including complex medical or end-of-life needs

My clinical approach is informed by decades of experience in music education, current work in child mental health support within clinical settings, and past service with the paediatric palliative care unit at McMaster Children’s Hospital. These diverse experiences shape a practice focused on enhancing emotional well-being, cognitive development, and quality of life through music-based interventions.

What Is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a research-informed, goal-directed clinical practice that utilizes music to promote emotional, cognitive, physical, and social development. These interventions are personalized and responsive to your child’s individual needs.

For younger children, sessions may include:

  • Musical play and movement to support self-regulation and communication

  • Improvisation to enhance social engagement

For older children and teens, sessions may involve:

  • Songwriting and lyric analysis to process emotions

  • Rhythmic drumming to build coping skills and explore identity

Whether your child is nonverbal, withdrawn, energetic, or navigating complex physical health issues, music offers a safe and motivating space for expression, connection, and growth.

Benefits of Music Therapy

Engaging in music therapy can:

  • Enhance emotional expression and self-awareness

  • Improve communication skills and social interaction

  • Support cognitive development and academic performance

  • Foster physical coordination and motor skills

  • Provide coping strategies for stress and anxiety

  • Encourage creative exploration and self-confidence

In-Home & Virtual Music Therapy Options

Offering in-home therapy services eliminates the stress of travel and delivers care in a setting where your child already feels comfortable, increasing both accessibility and the effectiveness of each session.

Virtual music therapy sessions are also available for families who prefer or require remote access. These sessions are equally individualized and flexible to meet your child’s needs wherever you are.
